BRIAN COOK SHAND
Originally the potter from Portsoy Pottery I am now working out of Watergaw Ceramics when the mood takes me. I have been creating ceramics for over 52 years but still delight in the challenge of throwing items on the potters wheel both big and small.
I used to cycle from Macduff to Cullykhan Beach as a loon and that’s where I met Stuart Farquhar as he was excavating at Cullykhan Fort. Through Stuart I met ‘The’ Les Rose (the owner of the Pennan Inn) and accepted the challenge of drinking at the Pennan Inn. As any regular would have told you, drink there twice and you’re accepted into the community!
I have enjoyed that pleasure ever since. It’s also a fine Motorbike ride (the push bike having been retired long since).
