FIONA McRAE

I’m a member of the Society of Scottish Landscape Photographers and was a finalist in the Scots Magazine Photographer of the Year in 2021 and in 2023 - both occasions for images taken in Pennan.

I have lived in Pennan for half a decade now . I always lived in the nearby area, and any time myself or my parents had visitors from overseas, we always took them to Pennan. The village is such a draw, and it’s not hard to understand why it’s held a fascination for fans of Local Hero. Like half of Scotland, I watched Local Hero when it first came out, and have watched it many many times since, recommending it to friends who were too young to have seen it first time around and who in turn are now fans of the film. “Ferness” has changed a wee bit, but not too much.

Some of you will have seen the decline in the stonework in our harbour so this auction will provide a much needed boost to the maintenance efforts. I am proud to be asked to submit my work to benefit to this end and hope you will all see the result on future visits.
